UEFA, the Union of European Associations, has asked all its member associations to complete their 2019/20 seasons till August. This means that sports punters should look forward to summer when their favorite sportsbooks will, once again, offer this popular betting activity.

Amid the Coronavirus outbreak, almost all football associations in Europe have stopped the domestic leagues and tournaments to prevent the spread of the virus amongst players and fans alike. The only exception was the Belarussian Premier League that kept its schedule and is ongoing to this day.

Top Divisions are a Priority

During a video call last week, UEFA talked to 55 representatives of the member associations and expressed the desire for season 2019/20 to be finished before the season 2020/21 starts. The consensus was made with a strong recommendation that all top divisions and the most prestigious cup competitions should be the priority.

Besides domestic leagues and competitions, several other big football events were suspended as well. The Champions League and the Europa League have been postponed, and there hasn’t been any talk about new dates yet. Euro 2020, one of the biggest football events in the world, has been called off and will take place in 2021.
