Betfred and the European Tour have extended their contract for sponsorship of the British Masters. The deal will run for a further two years through to the 2022 edition of the event. Betfred first became its sponsor in 2019, which was also the betting operator’s first sponsorship contract within the golf market.
Betfred’s boss, Fred Done, expressed his excitement for the 2021 Betfred British Masters, and Keith Pelley, Chief Executive of the European Tour, said: “Betfred has been a terrific partner over the past two years and they have been incredibly supportive over the past few months during the various challenges brought about by the pandemic. We are therefore delighted they have agreed to extend their sponsorship.”
The betting operator will not only sponsor the event but also cooperate with Golf’s European Tour on a number of initiatives. Betfred made a significant contribution toward #GolfforGood, donating £50,000 to the tournament’s official charity, the Sir Graham Wylie Foundation. The donation was made for Jack Senior’s hole-in-one on the 14th hole, along with a further £16,000 – £1,000 for each birdie posted by Westwood. The European Tour also donated £50,000 for the same cause.
