English Premier League club, Aston Villa, has announced that its shirt sponsorship agreement with betting platform W88 will be terminated at the end of the 2019-20 season. Less than a week ago, the club signed a new partnership with Cazoo.
The W88 sponsorship, formerly described as a “record-breaking commercial partnership”, has come to a natural end after three years. Since season 2016/17, W88 branding was featured on the team’s playing jerseys and training gear.
Aston Villa will continue to use W88 branded shirts until the 2019/20 season officially ends as both sides previously agreed to a short-term extension due to the global health pandemic suspending the campaign.
Birmingham-based FC has already signed a new sponsorship with Cazoo, a used car sales platform. The multi-year contract ensures that audiences will see the company’s logo on the play kits and training wear for both men and women at the club.
Aston Villa’s Chief Commercial Officer, Nicola Ibbetson, addressed the new partnership: “We are immensely proud to have partnered with one of the fastest-growing businesses in the UK. Cazoo’s commitment to a partnership with Aston Villa provides both parties with an opportunity to work together for many years to come.”
