Setup as an online pure-play and barely 20 years old, the brand has moved at frightening pace to outstrip many of its competitors, often trailblazing in the way of innovation. As one of the leading online sportsbooks, it’s no surprise that the depth of sports and markets offered by bet365 is huge. We counted over 25 at the time of this review, ranging from popular national sports such as Football and Cricket through to international markets such as American Football, Aussie Rules, Baseball and Basketball. The greyhound and horse racing cards are extensive with their ‘Specials’ segment offering odds on non-sporting events such as politics.
The ease of navigation through the site is apparent from the start with the links on the left making it easy to identify the sport of choice and then the relevant markets evenly split out once you have gone through to an event.
When scouring the many markets available on a variety of sports, we thought we would take a closer look at the depth of markets on a single upcoming football match.
bet365 have broken their segments down into quick links that put you through to either the most popular leagues and to help get you to those games that are time sensitive and will commence earlier than the others.
Thereafter there is a clear breakdown of countries and their respective competitions which again makes it easy to identify the markets you are looking for.
Each event has a total number of markets next to the top level odds and we can see the highly anticipated games have over 120 markets available for customers to bet on. The range of game specific markets is excellent with bet365 offering odds on outright win/lose/draw for the game as well as player, card, corners and time specific markets. All selections are clearly laid out making it easy to read the options available and make a pick.
Placing a bet was an enjoyable experience when compared to other bookmakers. The option to add to the bet slip and see what selections had been chosen followed me around as a collapsible widget. You could add selections as you went along and see how the odds accumulated over multiple selections, as well as play with the stakes and potential return scenarios. The bet confirmation was almost instant, confirming the details of the bet and clearly showing how to collapse or get rid of the bet slip and continue within the site.
Once the bet had been placed, the ‘My Bets’ section was highlighted to alert me to the fact that I had the option to cash out my bet prior to or during the event. This facility was immediately available and cash outs have also been almost instant when utilised.
bet365 offers its customers access to live streaming events all year round, allowing them to watch events for free from the comfort of their home and to get involved in the action.
bet365 stream over 70,000 events each year across a variety of sports. Simply look for the play button icon next to an event to know if it will be available to stream free on the platform. The only requirement to watch a live stream is that customers have funded accounts or have placed a bet in the past 24 hours.
You can also enjoy additional content provided by bet365 through their Betting News portal which can be found at https://extra.bet365.com/news/en/.
There does not seem to be an active loyalty program for sportsbook customers, however bet365 do give out regular bonuses and free bets to loyal customers. Most of the loyalty programs seem to be reserved for their other products such as Casino and Poker
bet365 takes the security of all its members very seriously claiming that they ‘employ multiple systems to protect your information.’
The website uses 256-bit Thawte SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) to encrypt data going to and from the site, including personal details and any debit/credit card information provided.
Encryption is used across all their pages. This can be verified by seeing the padlock symbol in the address bar at the top of the page. This symbol indicates that SSL is being used and all information sent to and from the site is encrypted.
In addition to the above, bet365 have several firewalls in place to restrict any unauthorised access to the site and these act as additional layers of defence against any attacks.
bet365 also operates an Information Security Management System (ISMS) to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information. bet365’s ISMS has been certified in accordance with ISO/IEC 27001:2013, an internationally recognised standard for information security.
Additional points regarding security are:
bet365 have provided both phone and email addresses for customers to use if they need to reach out regarding any issues.
They currently have a message onsite claiming they cannot provide phone support at this time and advise customers to reach out using the alternative methods listed above.
bet365 simply mentions that it is the responsibility of customers to ensure they are able to gamble legally in their locations, so don’t appear to list out their approved or restricted locations. Other sources have put together a list of approved countries including many in Europe, Asia, Africa and Oceania. A sample of the most renowned countries are:
On the whole, we are rating our bet365 experience as ‘Excellent’ as the sheer scale of markets and ease of navigation made it a joy to be onsite. The registration and sign-up process was easy with multiple payment methods available for customers to kick-off their journey. Many of the payment types offered were able to deposit funds immediately upon verification allowing customers to get straight to the action.
The sign up offer was certainly one of the richer ones we saw in the market and although they had the £200 match bonus for a long time, up to £100 in bet credits is still strong and enables a wide variety of players to get a bonus at a level they’re comfortable with. It doesn’t force anyone to overcommit in order to trigger the deal but isn’t so small that it won’t appeal to the serial bettors.
The ability to build bets and accumulators was particularly enjoyable as the bet slip wasn’t infringing on the experience. As a user, I had the ability to collapse the widget down while I browsed but didn’t have to scroll up if I wanted to add to it and see what the latest odds and pay-outs looked like once I’d made a selection. Small additions like being able to click on my favourite sports so they’d always be at the top to create alerts for my chosen markets helped enhance the overall experience.
The live streaming schedule was extensive and from previous experience I know that many sports and leagues get covered by bet365, with an expandable and collapsible screen to view any of the live action covered.
One of the downsides is the lack of a loyalty program for regular and loyal bettors. It seems bet365 knows they’re one of the best providers out there and don’t need to create such schemes to keep customers coming back. But from a consumer standpoint, it would still be great to be part of a scheme where players can unlock more bonuses and offers as a reward for their loyalty.
In conclusion, there really aren’t any surprises why bet365 is one of the industry leaders and why their digital first approach creates an excellent experience across all devices.
